Lacustrine Community Park
Restoring Lake Victoria's shoreline through youth-led action
Shauri Yako, an informal settlement on the edge of Lake Victoria, has been plagued by pollution, waste dumping, and shoreline degradation. Ceanapse is bringing together young people to reclaim this neglected lakeside and transform it into the first ever Lacustrine Community Park in Homabay (a clean, green, community-owned space that protects the lake and restores dignity).

- Shoreline Restoration Zone: Bamboo, vetiver grass, and native trees to stop erosion and revive biodiversity
- Community Green Park: Safe, accessible park with seating, shade, and child friendly spaces from recycled materials
- Waste Management Hub: Youth managed sorting points and community sensitization

Blue Art: Creative Climate Action
Engage children and youth through art to create awareness and inspire climate ethics
We engage children and youth through artwork to create awareness on the importance and value of our oceans and lacustrine environments. This helps them develop rigorous climate ethics, fearless advocacy, and generous mentorship to the community.
Activities include: Music performances, spoken word art, poetry, paintings, drawings, artifacts, and handmade crafts to make a lasting impression on conservation.
